A customer orders an item that cannot be found. An automated replenishment system purchases stock you already have. A year-end count reveals losses that have been accumulating for months. A customer asks for lot traceability-and the records cannot provide a defensible answer.
These may look like counting problems. They are usuallydecision-architecture problems.
Inventory accuracy matters because businesses increasingly make decisions from records rather than physical observation. When an employee can see the shelf before committing, an inaccurate record may be a manageable inconvenience. When an ERP, WMS, marketplace, replenishment engine, production plan, or customer portal acts directly from that record, the same error becomes an executable instruction.
This course teaches you how to determinehow much inventory accuracy your business actually needs, where it needs it, and what level of control is economically justified.
You will not receive another universal benchmark or be told that every warehouse should pursue maximum accuracy. Instead, you will learn to diagnose inventory criticality using three practical factors
