Fundamentals of Extension Education introduces students to the basic concepts, principles, philosophy, and methods of extension education as a process of informal teaching and learning aimed at individual and community development. The course explains the meaning, objectives, scope, and importance of extension education in rural and agricultural development. It focuses on the role of extension services in transferring scientific knowledge and modern technologies to farmers and rural communities for improving productivity, livelihoods, and social welfare.The course also covers the historical development of extension education, the principles of learning and communication, and the functions and qualities of an extension worker. Students gain an understanding of extension teaching methods, communication models, programme planning, leadership development, and rural institutions involved in extension activities.
