Types of Hearing Loss
There are three types of hearing loss:

Conductive hearing loss: In this hearing loss, something prevents sound from passing through the outer ear (ear canal) or the middle ear.

Sensorineural hearing loss: This hearing loss occurs when something damages the inner ear over time. Rarely, sensorineural hearing loss develops very quickly. This is called sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL) or sudden deafness. SSHL can occur simultaneously or within a few days.
•
Mixed: This occurs when there are problems with the middle or outer ear (conductive hearing loss) and the inner ear (sensorineural hearing loss).
