Schematic diagram is the blueprint of all electronic circuits, the medium through which designs and functionalities are conveyed and understood. A schematic diagram has two fundamental purposes
communicate the intent of the hardware designer;
provide the means to implement the designer's concept into physical reality.
Deciphering schematic diagrams, however, requires more than just a basic knowledge of the pictorial syntax (component symbols, reference designators, coded values, signal labels, wiring representation, etc.) employed in their creation. You need to know underlying principles that define the various circuit clusters which make up the overall design to have a proper grasp of their functional purposes.
