Description
This course is a continuation of my previous course,
Datamine Studio RM for Mineral Resource Estimation. In the previous course, you learned how to import drillhole data, validate the database, create geological wireframes, build block models, assign density, and estimate grades using the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method. In this course, we will move to the next level by learning
Geostatistics and
Ordinary Kriging, which are widely used in the mining industry.
You will first learn the basic concepts of geostatistics in a simple and easy-to-understand way. Then, you will learn about
variograms, including nugget, sill, range, anisotropy, directional variograms, and variogram model fitting. All topics are explained with practical mining examples.
The course also includes
variogram modelling in Snowden Supervisor, where you will learn how to create experimental variograms, fit models, and understand geological continuity.
Next, you will learn
Kriging Neighbourhood Analysis (KNA). You will understand how to choose the best search ellipsoid, sample numbers, block discretization, and other estimation settings before running kriging.
Finally, you will perform
Ordinary Kriging estimation in Datamine Studio RM using the variogram models created in Snowden Supervisor. You will also learn about kriging weights, kriging variance, kriging efficiency, slope of regression, estimation quality, and result validation.
