Description
Have you ever wanted to make videos that match with music for concerts? Are you interested how to make animations that sync with audio?
This course is structured as if you have been booked to mix visuals for an upcoming electronic music event and to guide you through the practical steps along the way to get you ready. Along the way you can play and experiment with the concepts your learning.
The course starts with methods of designing audio-reactive visuals and ways to keep the performance varied with different video effect variations and how to blend seamlessly between videos, using the software, Resolume. However many of the principles will be applicable to other softwares.
The next part of the course will cover animation concepts to create video loops with keyframes aligning with beats. For example, if you want to make an animation that repeats every 4 beats or 8 beats of music and how to time animation key frames to beats. The course will use Blender to illustrate these concepts. The concepts are applicable to animation in general.
After this the course will go into more general advice for preparing for an event like how video output is different between your computer monitor and the output at the venue, how to setup your computer for performances and ways to deal with common problems such as dealing with low-quality projectors in a room with a smoke machine going, or resizing video output to different aspect ratios.
The course will close with a section on what to do during soundcheck and setup at the venue. Including setting brightness levels, colour settings, and working with a light technician.
Who this course is for
The course is structured towards beginners, anyone interested about making audio-reactive visuals for events, DJs who want to get started adding visuals to their sets and are unsure how to get started, even those who have more experience in concert visual design will be able to find something from the course.
