iOS apps that go silent the moment they leave the foreground frustrate users, while apps that notify too often or refresh with no restraint drain batteries and erode trust.
In this course, Notifications and Background Updates in iOS, you'll gain the ability to design and implement permission-respecting notification and background update experiences.
First, you'll explore how to choose the right update mechanism for a given need, request notification authorization responsibly, and schedule local notifications.
Next, you'll discover how to handle remote notifications and app wake events, build actionable and contextual notification experiences, and recognize when Live Activities and time-sensitive update patterns are appropriate.
Finally, you'll learn how to schedule background refresh and processing tasks, coordinate background updates with your app's data and networking layers at the boundary level, and validate notification and background behavior across real-world scenarios.
When you're finished with this course, you'll have the skills and knowledge of iOS notifications and background execution needed to build apps that keep users informed without draining their battery or their patience.
